Brooklyn mugging caught on tape

Police have released CCTV footage of a vicious mugging at a Brooklyn subway station in the hope it will lead to the suspect's arrest.

Dana Perez, aged 55, was leaving the 18th Avenue Subway Station in Borough Park when a man wearing a dark hooded fraternity sweatshirt ran up from behind and attacked her. The man is seen punching and kicking Ms Perez several times before grabbing her purse and emptying its contents onto the ground.

Ms Perez was left with a broken wrist and bruises to her face, back and chest.
"Why you hit me? Why, why you hit me?" she recalled pleading with the man but he did not say a word.
The suspect ran off with an envelope containing cash.

The attacker, described as white or Hispanic, in his 20s, was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the Greek letters Alpha Phi Delta across the front and the number 27 on the back.
