Mark Roberts, 47, was climbing with pick axes in Snowdonia when he was hit by a chunk of ice dislodged by another climber.
He plummeted 100ft down Parsley Fern Gully, near Crib Goch, breaking his ankle.
His helmet camera captured the fall.
Fellow climbers called the emergency services and he was rescued soon after by an RAF helicopter.
The ice can easily crack under the climber and this is the biggest danger in that sport.
