One man died and four others were seriously injured on Tuesday when a balloon crashed to the ground after hitting a power line in the canton of Fribourg, police said, reported The Local.
The man's wife and their two daughters as well as the balloon's pilot were hurt when the balloon fell about 50 metres (160 feet) in the region of Montbovon, local police said.
The balloon had taken off from Chateau d'Oex, in the canton of Vaud.
The La Liberté website quoted police spokesman Pierre-André Waeber as saying the balloon crashed at around 8.35am, killing the man instantly.
His wife and teenage daughters were transported by helicopter to hospitals in Bern and Lausanne, and the pilot was taken away in an ambulance.
The website said air accident investigators would launch an investigation.
The balloon belonged to a hotel in Gstaad, it said.
