Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg has paid tribute to an "amazing" Silicon Valley executive who has died at the age of 47.
David Goldberg was married to the social network's second-in-command, Sheryl Sandberg.
The father of two was the chief executive of online survey provider SurveyMonkey.
Mr Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post: "Dave Goldberg was an amazing person, and I am glad I got to know him.
"My thoughts and prayers are with Sheryl and her family."
Mr Zuckerberg posted this image along with words of praise for Mr Goldberg
Mr Goldberg's brother, Robert, wrote on Facebook on Saturday: "It's with incredible shock and sadness that I'm letting our friends and family know that my amazing brother, Dave Goldberg, beloved husband of Sheryl Sandberg, father of two wonderful children, and son of Paula Goldberg, passed away suddenly last night."
No details have been released about the cause of death.
Mr Goldberg told news website Business Insider last month how he had maxed out credit cards in the 1990s to fund one of his first internet businesses, a music website.
He went on to work at companies such as Yahoo.
Mr Goldberg married his wife in 2004. In her 2011 book Lean In: Women, Work And The Will To Lead, she called him a "true partner".
"I truly believe that the single most important career decision that a woman makes is whether she will have a life partner and who that partner is," she wrote.
