Gun Battle At Afghan Bank After Suicide Blast

Suspected Taliban militants have launched a gun battle with security forces after detonating a bomb at a bank in Afghanistan - reported the SkyNews.

At two policemen have been killed in the continuing standoff in Helmand Province, provincial spokesman Omar Zhwak said.

Another five people, including three police officers have been injured.

"According to our information, there were four Taliban, one of them detonated his explosives and three are fighting with security forces," said Farid Ahmad Obaid, a spokesman for Helmand's police chief.

Employees who escaped said the bank had been busy with government workers who were collecting their salaries.

The attack took place a day after Taliban gunman killed 132 children and nine teachers at a school in Peshawar in neighbouring Pakistan.
