People don't always tweet carefully — the rampant punctuation and spelling errors are evidence enough of that — but this particular Twitter travesty isn't about grammar; it's about terrorism. Or, more specifically, the illusion of terrorism at Pink's concert in Melbourne Sunday night.
It started when a 16-year-old Pink fan, excited at the prospect of seeing one of his favorite pop stars perform live in his hometown, tweeted the following shout-out: "@Pink I'm ready with my Bomb. Time to blow up #RodLaverArena. Bitch" - reported Zimbio.com.
Now you could read that one of two ways: as a reference to Pink's song "Timebomb", which is what the kid intended, OR as a literal threat to make the venue violently explode. Melbourne authorities went with the latter.
Using the teen tweeter's profile picture, security managed to pick the boy out of the 12,000+ people at the show took him into custody. After some explaining and a background check, he was released (although he did miss the show).
As his sister explained to Melbourne's Herald Sun, it was just a big misunderstanding. "It was freezing cold, and he didn't mean it like that. He wrote it as in one of her songs is called 'Timebomb' and he forgot to put the 'Time' on there," she told the paper.
